Hey Family,
This has been a good week in the work.
Last saturday was Lin Yan Jun's baptism interview. When we went over the baptism questions she was pretty good about being committed to the commandments but was still working on the not drinking tea thing. That is really a hard thing for people here who drink tea as much as we drink milk in america. But she kept asking us how she could get an answer to her prayer. She's being reading and praying ever since we met her a month and half ago. She happened to be invited to a class in another ward about getting good employment. She went to that class in the day and did her interview at night. She came out of her interview and passed with flying colors. I was pretty surprised, but afterwards she told me that when they were saying the closing prayer at the class, she had a really strong, warm feeling. It was the answer she was looking for. I have never been so grateful for an answer to someone else's prayer.
She came to church the next day and was so happy to be there. It was such a difference from the first time we got her to come to church when she was worried about seeing some one she knew, introducing herself and a million other things. She has made so much progress and the ward is really excited about her baptism on saturday. It's good to have the ward's support for this baptism. The bishop told us on sunday that he sometimes worries about those investigators that only come to a few sacrament meetings and then get baptized. but he wasn't worried about this one.
Also the ward has been helping a lot with Amy Chen. The member are fellowshipping more than I've ever seen any other investigator. She trust them as much or more than us missionaries and that's wonderful. She needs to go to taizhong next week for her 2nd interview and hopefully that will all work out. She need a lot of prayers.
We also were blessed to have a lot of investigators at church on sunday. One is a 16 year old girl who loves meeting with us. We've just got to get her excited to baptized and her mom to give us permission. Oh the woes of parent/spouse permission, my life would be so much easier without it. But I suppose it is those sort of things that try our faith enough for it to really grow and to allow us to sacrifice fo the work.
We had exchanges yesterday. it's funny, when I went into the office a few move calls ago to pick up my trainee, there were a total of 4 sisters that need to be trained and we weren't sure who'd we be paired with. Turns out 3 of those 4 would be my companions (Sisters Rowberry, McKinley, Johnson) and the last one (Sister Peters) would be my companion for a day during exchanges (yesterday). The sisters in this
mission, (as well as the elders) are people of amazing quality, experience, and faith. Lately I've also been grateful for dedicated district and zone leaders, and an superb mission president.
Well nothing else too exciting planned for today but I've got to go! Love you all,
Sister Browning
P.s. thanks for the picutres. they were fun to look at.
